Haha. Not really. My parents... don't really allow me to buy flip flops. I know. They're weird. We only have those flip flops that are suitable to use for walking in the backyard and around the house...

I do have everything else, though: hiking boots, ski boots, sandals, high heels, slippers, leather shoes, performance shoes, tennis shoes, golf shoes, roller blades, ice skates... Doesn't sound like I'm missing out anymore, does it? ;)

I had a job, and once my money runs out, it's out. Good thing I thought to save like 300 bucks just in case, huh?

I really wish my parents were okay with buying me whatever I wanted. Or even just ONE THING I want per year for less than $20. But no, they don't.

Same here. Seriously, if I asked my parents if I could have something, and they said yes, I'd be really really happy. Usually, it's a no. I'd expect it to be a no, anyway, since I could almost never have the things that I desire.

lol, hey, i'm glad i'm a girl... my ex-bf used to always be low on cash b/c of dates and stuff. i'd pitch in half the time but still, we spent a LOT of money. at least now, i'm saving my money for better things. :)

i own tons of flipflops and only 2 pair of tennis shoes. lol. i love flipflops. although someday, they will be death of me since i trip a lot.

Hm, I feel uber-guilty when I spend my parents' money. I'm also extremely conservative, so if I must buy something, I use my own money. Otherwise I'll feel bad, because being a child, I realize that they've done so much for me, even though it's out of responsibility. It's also out of love, and I don't want to empty their pockets to the max for me. I want it to a minimum, so the clothes, books, etc that I want, I buy. Sometimes this is difficult because they insist on paying. But that's just me.

Just wanted to share my experience as compared to yours.

hahahahaa stuck on 1700:
"I admit that I am a spoiled brat at some times, but I don't care as long as it gets me what I want."

I can't believe how many spoiled kids there are on this thread/board!!!
I'm so glad I'm not spoiled with material things. I wasn't able to get a job this summer (tons of soccer, history class) and thus haven't really bought anything new. At times I may feel as though, "OMG I just missed out on suchhh a cute shirt!!" but in the end, I really don't care that much. I'll take a shirt I get from a soccer tournament and re-sew it to fit me in a really nice way. Last fall (even though I still had money saved from my summer job), I was into buying cute little boys shirts that would fit me like girls shirts from a thrift store, and next thing a know, a few of my friends (even rich ones) were doing the same and then it spread a bit more.

What do you spend all of your allowence on anyway?

At least you guys get allowance...I used to have to do chores for nothing. I buy my own food. My diet requires me to eat seperate foods from the family so I buy my own groceries, pay for gas, car, insurance. Pretty much everything. EXCEPT my cellphone, haha. Im on the family plan..so the 'rents front the 9.99 a month on my bill. I also pay my brother and sister to do my chores now.

hmm IM luckier then i thought im like dirt poor compared to some of the kids at my school tho....they live in the manshions of the north shore of long island i live on The north shore in one of the only mostly middle class communities on the north shore long island

Damn stuck on 1700, you sound like a pompous a s s. Seriously go work for one week at burger king or Macdonalds, and you'll see how much work it takes to make 20 bucks, approx. 3 hours of flipping burgers and deep frying fries.. If you told me that you needed to buy a book for a class and your dad wouldn't give it too you I would be somewhat sympathetic but not for some damn flip flops.

And although you'll claim that you're over the situation you're obviously not if you're chasing your dad around for your allowance. Dude you're 16, you don't seem to have any health issues or mental issues so go get yourself a job , little brat/.

I've been working for a long time, and after the first week that I noticed that I had to work 45 hours just to make 400 dollars. out of the 400 dollars I made 100 went to pay for gas and my cellphone, and the other 300 dollars went to pay for my insurance. So basically after busting my butt for a whole week I was left broke, thats exactly what you're parents have to go through with you.

hm. i got adidas flipflops a few years ago, they weren't comfortable at all. i wear rainbows now they're soo comfortable and they match a lot of stuff

idk though. i dont get an allowance or have a job, my parents just kind of give me money when i go out or w/e. i have like $1000 saved up from random stuff (one time i asked my father about a case he was working on and he got so excited i was even asking (bc no one else in my family even cares) that he was like 'well if i win i'll give you $500 for w/e you want' kind of offhandedly but i held him to it and i just kept it, didnt spend it or anything) so i dont end up spending money i have saved, unless im buying something i dont want my parents to know about which isnt often lol

stcukon1700. first of all...you should use ur allowance money to get stuff like sandals. and you should get a fricken job. i'm 15 and i have a job. no one likes spoiled brats. u have it really good and some kids dont even have food or parents who are as giving as yours, so it really sucks that you do that to your parents. they work hard for money. ehh this whole thread is disgusting.

ahhh, at my old job (ten cents above min. wage in MD) it took about 5 hours of work to make $20...thats with taxes taken out. I didnt read the OP at first but damn man...for ****en adidas's no less. You need some sense knocked into you...you sound like you're five. And I agree...there is absolutely no reason you shouldnt have a job. I hate 'rents who always give in to what their kid wants, after enough nagging of course...jesus...no discipline

The thing is...I don't HAVE to buy my own food. I'm on a training diet for my sport and I have to eat certain foods that the family doesn't eat, or I eat ALOT of certain foods that they do. It's totally a choice thing, haha...not like my 'rents making me buy what I feel like eating for the next week

hmm. see if i was on a certain diet requiring me to eat foods because of my sport, my parents (father especially) would be more than happy to buy me that food, but that's just because hes like obsessed with sports

i dont have a job bc it'd be impossible with my sports commitments and stuff, and my parents would much rather have me do sports than have a job
plus the principal at my school actively discourages anyone from getting a job
