just toooo stupid to be posted...but i will post it anyway

there is a rumour in my school....from my school a student had got into princeton about 12 years ago(this is true).....and the rumour is...despite his excellent recommendations from teachers from my school, he was caught doing some illegal activities involving drugs...(probably true) so, the rumour goes...my school is blacklisted in princeton...the reason due to which no one got admission in princeton for 11 years...when about 10 students got into ivys every year....

though one student got into princeton last year....he had exceptional stats ...he even had world record(not in that year but ever) in no. of A level As...so, he was too special to be restricted by the blacklisting...

people say that our school is still viewed negatively by princeton...so, i will have to be extra good to break the barrier ...

can there be a hint of truth in this....or is it bs as i think???

maybe the school wasn't honest and princeton has a long memory...who knows

i dont think your school can be viewed negatively by princeton...from your chances post, i see that you live in nepal....maybe people from your school just dont apply to princeton? i dont see how princeton can be biased against a high school...it hurts all the potential honest applicants (like you im assuming)

yeah def890 . absolutely true... i am honest...and what i think is a prestigious institution like princeton should not punish me for a crime someone else did...( i am sure that is just a stupid rumour)....and if it is true and if it is biased for all the wrong reasons... what i will think is...princeton is not good enough for me...rather than the other way round...
but i know it is just bs. and princeton is a great place.

I would not worry, rumors and stories are just that

actually citygirlsmom, the school wasn't dishonest...the guy was caught in illegal activity in Princeton..not in my highschool...the teachers probably had no idea ...my school had no fault...that is what makes the whole story bs... but i am not making this up...even a teacher recommended me to change my ED preference...I just wanted to tell u guys the craziness of the whole thing.

so where r u internationally?

hmmm

do "blacklists" actually exist? I mean, how can an admissions comittee penalize current applicants due to the faults of former ones?

fred... i am from Nepal
and pk
exactly... but even my teacher is stupid enough to believe it

apdoolittle, did you apply ED last year?

mind posting your stats? (SATs, gpa, EC's, hooks?)

lol sailesh, then that's what all the 'believers' are---->stupid

didn't realise that it could be used to mean that..lol...
anyway it seems somewhat illogical if not stupid..

and pk, why don't u check out the official ED decisions of 2010 thread..
there are stats of all accepted and rejected candidate...including apdoolittle probably

if i get time, i am planning to make a statistical analysis of the data

ya then post it up sailesh. i wanna see the avgs.

I'm pretty sure APD went RD...didn't he say that at one point?

Lots of people do drugs in college. How is that even a big deal?

the rumour is he was kind of a drug seller or something....druglord...lol

a "druglord" is a lot different from a simple drug dealer/seller

Personal experience in the field, pk? :p

lol they're on to me!

hides face
