I thought my visit to Georgetown would make my decesion easy but I'm almost as undecided as I was before my visit.

My choice is betwee Georgetown and Tulane. I sent in my deposit to Tulane about a month ago but unexpectedly got into Georgetown after getting deffered early action. Georgetown was totally off my radar before I got in because I simply didn't think I had a chance.

While I'm still undecided, I am leaning slightly towards Georgetown. The academics are simply incredible and I'd fit right in with the politically active student body. Despite being a very prestigious and elite school, I didn't get the impression during my visit that the students were overly grade concious and seemed like a relatively laid back bunch that maintains a healthy balance of academic intensity with fun. I was impressed but I've been in love with Tulane and the city of New Orleans since I visited for the first time last year and I'm not quite ready to call up their admissions office to let them know that I won't be attending.

One major academic benefit to Tulane is that being an honors student, my honors classes (I'd probably take one or two each semester) are capped at 15-20 students. At Georgetown, a lot of my freshmen classes would be in large lecture halls with somewhere between 50 and 150 students. Msot of my honors classes that I'd choose to take at Tulane would be in my major, political science, and the prospect of getting such awesome access to my proffesors excites me.

On the other hand, Georgetown offers a breadth of courses and majors that I don't have at Tulane. While I'm pretty certain that I want to be a government/polisci major, Georgetown's College of Liberal Arts offers a ton of languages in which I can major. Also, I can always transfer to their School Of Foreign Service (as long as I maintain a good academic record) for a top notch international relations education.

As far as how well I fit into each school, I think I'd have an easier time finding my niche at Georgetown. I am a political junkie who would fit right into Georgetown's politically charged student body. At the same time, the prospect of going to a rather apathetic school like Tulane excites me to a certain extent because of the school's need for politically active students. Nevertheless, I loved the Tulane students I met when I visited but I don't like the strong Greek presence at the school. At Georgetown, on the other hand, there are no frats or sororities.

While Tulane is cheaper, Georgetown's financial aid was good enough to make cost a non-factor.

So what do yall think?
