hmmm Im actually interested in Case Though Im still not sure if ill apply or not.....because there seem to be so many conflicting statements....which of you go to Case?

CH121S, check out the CWRU site

and also visit and see if its a fit for yourself.

why is it hard to succeed?

I havent really heard that it is hard to succeed there but it definitely is only for one type of person. It's not for everyone.

Case is obviously an excellent university in many areas. If the university could be teleported to Boston, Philly, or Baltimore, its number of applications and selectivity would go through the roof. As has already been said, the city of Cleveland has much to recommend it (both in the arts and sciences/medicine such as the world renowned Cleveland Clinic). As in any big city (Chicago, Saint Louis, Philly, etc.) one needs to be cognizant of one's surroundings, but with that said Cleveland can compete in its offerings to any city of comparable size. Without the herd appeal of some Northeastern universities (such as Boston University) but with on-campus academics and opportunities that meet or exceed those universities, the students who apply to and get accepted to Case receive a top quality education.

In reputation and selectivity, Case is where Washington University in Saint Louis and Carnegie-Mellon were 10-15 years ago. Case may never get "hot" but that may be all to the good to the excellent students who "self select" this fine university.

A university similar to Case that has all-around excellence and whose student body is similarly self-selective is the University of Rochester. I applaud the discernment of high achieving students who apply to superb universities like Rochester and Case.

A+ for those of you who defended Case. It is an excellent school. There is a lot of stuff to do in Cleveland, but only those who are tough enough to handle Northeast OH weather need apply. No freeze babies allowed.

It is not the cold so much as the gloom. From Sept to May there is hardly a sunny day. March is suicide month - too many months of gloom and too many months left until Spring.

Uhhh that is 100% untrue. We hardly even got depressing weather at all until mid November, and it usually starts clearing up on and off by March. And it's not always depressing, sometimes the snow is great and actually makes you happy.

Its only gloomy when its slushy on the streets and dark at 5 PM.

well...i visited there a few times, and its def not for everyone. Cleveland is a cool place imo, you got the "flats" which is a cool hang out area with clubs and bars, and since ohio is my home, id be in heaven at case sports wise, considering cleveland is home to my fav pro teams(indians, cavs, browns), but like i said, its def not a school for everyone, so the best thing to do is vist.
