I was just wondering if you took a course in high school, say AP Statistics, but didn't take the AP test, will UC's give you credit for the course or not? I mean, they review our high school transcripts, right? If they see we took a course in college that we already took in high school (without earning AP or college credit) does this in any way affect us negatively, i.e. no unit/course credit? Does anyone know?

well the reason why there is a AP test is to see how well u do in college level classes. UC admission look at ur AP test score to select student in a pool of application. just look at this way, any one can take AP class but if they dont take the test how do UC know if they are ready for college level classes? high AP test score does help. even though you dont take the test but if u get A in the AP class it will helps to boot ur GPA up pretty high. and a high GPA also one of the main factor for UC to select their incoming students.

Thanks for replying dunngyen! You did not really answer my question, though… I want to know if the credit you earn for a class is affected, when the UCs see you took the class in high school (but didn’t get college credit for it, as in AP scores or college class units) Does anyone get what I’m trying to ask??!

Another example to clarify: You took pre-calc in your high school, now you’re taking a pre-calc course in your CCC.
Will the UCs look down upon taking a class you took in high school? Will credit be limited for transfers doing this?

Anyone know anything about this??!

UC’s don’t look at high school transcripts at all, I believe. (for ccc transfers) So don’t worry about what classes you took in high school. It’ll just be easier for you if you already learned the stuff before.

Also, when applying as a transfer, can one mention any extra-curriculars/clubs/activities etc that were done in high school or is the slate pretty much wiped clean in that regard?

You can add EC’s from HS. However, the UC’s are more interested in what you did after HS and those will weigh more heavily.

Guys… The UCs require us to send college and HIGH SCHOOL transcripts.

thats after u are admitted to the school. so by then it doesn’t matter anymore since u already got in. i thought u were hs tranfer. but since u already in CCC then the grade u get in CCC are more important than HS
