depending on what you like to do, i think that you should at least visit UCI and see how it is before you choose this place to study abroad at, esp since there are sooo many places you can go. California has a lot of things to do, so based on what your interests may be, let me know and i can help you figure out some attractions and points of interest that you may want to see.

There are the beaches, the museums, aquariums, zoos, national parks and wildlife exhibits, disneyland of course along with other theme parks, there is the superb shopping places, and all sorts of recreational and professional sport arenas.

I have visited United States and University of California, Irvine and I think that it is the only of the places that I have enjoyed staying in. I only do not want to waste acceptance to Seoul National University because I am only to study in United States for one year or two. I want to come to the California again because when I last come I could not enjoy the sights.

Irvine seems like a safe, conservative neighborhood where I can concentrate on my English studies.

I last went to Davis, Berkeley and Northern California for longer than Orange County, so I will not be visiting these places again (as if I would like to visit a town full of cattle--it smells of rotting eggs and other such things). I would like to visit again the friendly people of Orange County and see Disneyland again.

And one more question? I love roller coaster thrill rides very much. Are there any carnivals or theme parks which you could recommend for me to visit while I am visiting?

Someone said that my comments about Davis were rude. I acknowledge that it is a good university but I happen to not like the area when I visited. I am sorry if it cause offense--it is just meant to be my opinion based on my observation of the area.

well u can have your opinions, and if you think that the place smells and that is your reason for not wanting to come here, then that is your decision. You and everyone else is entitled to your opinions, and those are the very opinions which help you choose which university you may choose to go to. i would say to come to uci, over the korean one just because it is here in the states, and probably over davis, but that is because im from SoCal. The smell is something that one would have to get use to, especially if one has not experienced such things over in korea. and others only seem to get on your case because you are from out of town, however, i share your distaste in the smell of cattle and horse manure, however necessary it may be, it is extremely strong and something that takes getting use to. However those animals are all there because of the Vet school that Davis has. SoCal is a fun place only because there are so many cultures present, that every place must cater to the large extremes. It's radical society allows it be a turning point and revolutionary center for the rest.

yes, concerned707, jas0n pretty much summed it up correctly, he knows because we both live in the same dorm. we are also both currently in good academic sophomore standing.

It was reeally easy to switch majors when I did it. I just walked in, filled out a form and the next day I was in that major. Sometimes you have do some major change requirements...which is just a few classes you'd probably have to take for that major anyway.

My goal is to work in international business, so I must better my English to the point of being a near native speaker. I have worked very hard on it, thank you for noticing my hard work. =D

hey do you know much about the poli sci/int'l relations program and pre-law? and also are many people in the social sciences and would you say that its a strong school?
random...do ppl actually watch anteaterTV? how popular is it?
what do you think of uci compared to ucsb?

at uci, we have a huge social sciences school, as it is one of the largest on campus. we dont have an int'l relations or pre-law program so to speak of, but we have a huge Poli Sci program which is very strong and has an excellent backing. My friend who is a business econ major, and is in the school os social sciences told me that most people who dont cut it for their major transfer over to the school of social sciences because it is so much easier, hence it is one of the largest schools on campus.
regarding your random question, i would say not a lot of people watch anteater tv at all, so it isnt that popular.
i would want to ask you how you are asking me to compare UCI to UCSB, based on what criteria before i say which one is better, since both have their ups and down depending on what you are going into and planning to do.

Check the uci website to find out which placement test that you pass out of based on classes that you have taken. If you still have questions or doubts, call the registrar's office or send them an email. I am not sure which placement test you may have to take exactly, since it is different for "locals", so to speak. I do know that you will most probably take the writing placement test, but it will probably be different for you, than others since you are a transfer. But do post and let me know if you need further assistance and guidance.
