Kanye West pulls George Bush's card

Hm, those "white" people don't look exactly white, they woman looks like she could be hispanic or biracial. Or are you making the racist assumption that all fair skinned people are caucasian?

Note, I never said anything about white people or anything of the sort -- I merely posted a link to the picture. Considering that apparently the captions had to be taken down due to racial implications I'd venture to say that those in the picture are white and also -- hispanics make up an extremely small minority of LA, like 2.5% or so.

Most of the Bush supporters are basically saying, "Bush isn't really outright racist, just subconsciously racist." Please.

You're right Silver! It's just that attaching Michael Moores name causes Republican fanatics to denounce it out of hand and distract from the truth of the article. I posted Michael Mooores article on other forum subjects that are full of Right Wing Neo-Conservative Kooks!

honestly, if the same line of action had been taken by kerry or clinton or nader or any other would be president, THEN we could accurately say "_____ doesn't care about black people." but i doubt anyother president would have reacted so poorly.

and i think the comment saying "For what its worth, I think Kanye had a lot of courage to come on live network television, ignore his prescripted lines and speak his mind" is just crap. what he had a lot of was stupidity and ignorance. i mean if i went on national television and said someing like "bush has a small thing and is gay", would you think of me as having courage?

but as nbachris said, bush just doesn't care about people period. he's an idiot. that's why he reascted this way. he may be racist, but i don't even know if he knows, or if he could spell the word for that matter.

I agree with Coqui. Kanye West is, in fact, an idiot. Bush, too, is an imbecile.

Considering that apparently the captions had to be taken down due to racial implications I'd venture to say that those in the picture are white and also -- hispanics make up an extremely small minority of LA, like 2.5% or so.

It was taken down due to the controversy, I don't know how you or anyone else can prove the race of those people.

tHIS GUYS AN IDIOT. He complains and complains, same thing on Live 8.

Did he donate any money to help out. Nope. I guess he doeant care about blacks. That new Multi million $$ pepsi deal, would have gave some great support to Africa and the katrina Victims.

Tell me when he donates the money. Because hes a piece of **** and never would.

Apparantly, this race conscious has some validity because major tv networks are picking this up. Condoleeza Rice even said something about this in a press conference yesterday. As I said before, it's unfortunate, but race will probably play a role in people's perception of relief aids. For example, how negatively the media has been portraying the blacks in the region. It's not fair how a newscaster will talk about the terrible behavior of the refugees and zoom in on a group of Afro-Americans afterwards, as if to asssociate the poor behavior with them.

Now, do I think that Bush is purposely delaying relief? Not purposely, but more subconsciously. It's just like one of the parent's thread said once, whites simply no how to manipulate the media and people's perceptions for their benefit. Of course, given the seriousness of this catastrophe, relief will arrive. It is the civil duty of the government to do so.

It is shameful that the government has not provided its resources to the affected areas as it did to other parts of the world when they were hit with natural disasters. It genuinely does seem like the people are being neglected. I believe that someone said earlier that the federal government should not be solely blamed and that other parties were not doing enough to address the needs of this crisis. I disagree. This is a national crisis that should have been handled, foremostly, by the national government. When I look at the news, it seems as if most help to the refugees are from nearby-communities, charities, independent service groups, such as Red Cross, etc. While the government has * just now* sent enough troops to the scene and is finally mobilizing to do something, these orginazations have been there from the [i[beginning* doing the best they can. In addition, it shouldn't be one sector of the government [FEMA] that is doing all the work, too.

Another thing that one poster said that I found disturbing was how the wrote that "black people like to put everything on race." That's not true. Blacks interpret race how they see it, an engulfing aspect of our lives. From affirmative action to public perception, aka racial stereotypes, to subtle and downright predjudice, we, even as children, encounter race. It's not an issue that most, like myself, look for to use as a grudge against the world, but something we're forced to swallow.

I don't think that many whites in the media conciously try to manipulate the media: they portray events as they perceive them, and since the media is mainly controlled by whites, we see the world through their eyes all the time.

wow. thanks for the post dcfca. if you look hard they both seem to be holding a loaf of bread.

Just to clarify, it looks to me like the woman is holding a box of Diet Pepsi cans.

There's nothing like an Hispanic apologist for racist oppressors like Bush & his lap dog supporter Scotch!

I hate Bush. The only BUSH I like is my own.

actually I live in Bronx, NY

haha. my comment was sarcastic and not to be taken that seriously, so chill out. and if i am saying bush is stupid and can't spell, wouldn't i NOT be an apologist for bush. i already said i extremely dispise the guy, and nothing else i said about bush has been positive, so what's your logic? haha. you make me laugh.

True, film, whites may not do it consciously, but it sure does seem so. There is no diversity of perception in the media.

why would whites want to show a weakness of their race? Think about it?

That's true, scotch. This is not just a "white" thing to show your race in a positive light. Every culture does that. Since whites are the major powerhouses in America, they, unlike other cultures, are actually successful in doing this. But, the truth is, every race have humiliating blemishes they try to cover up. Some do it better than others.

true, why do we see so many black criminals on tv, while we know for a fact, Whites Murder more and commit some of the most ruthless crimes around, but that can be its a 70% to 13% population ratio.

it seems that everytime a white person commits a horrible crime such as killing there wife, or killing someone beacause god told them too, the media makes it seem like it's just that one guy who is crazy. and this is the way it should be, since the guy who commited the crime is an individual and doesn't speak for his whole race or religion. however, when a black person a horrible, it seems the media sometimes makes it seem like its the fact that they are black that made them more prone to doing this.

for example, when all the school shooting came into being, the kids that did it were sometimes cast in a troubled or even sympathetic light. it was like "oh look what video games and violence on tv has done to those poor (not economically speaking) white kids." but i'm sure if it had been a black kid that shot everyone the media would have made the story about "black crime in america" or something like that.

all the in depth cases and stories of missing children or murdered women and thier babies are about white families. it does happen to other races, but i guess those families have more money so its more "improtant" to the media. yet, the media never says something like "white male crime in america". oh no, it's just that that one white guy happens to be crazy.
