Hey, Everyone! posting this again because last time I posted so early in the morning and no one saw it. I’m also not sure how to delete previous posts. So, I’ve been trying to finalize my sources to use for studying the MCAT and with all companies carrying preperation it’s quite hard to find one that is the best to prepare you. The most talked about from what I am seeing is Kaplan and Khan Academy, but I’m unsure as to which one out of the two is the best source. General question for anyone going into medicine or even those who have already gone through this, what is the best source?! I’ve also been looking on amazon for the books and noticed that kaplan has 7 books and it’s the third edition. So, does edition matter? if so which edition is best? Are there only 7 books total?
The new MCAT is in place only for about a year, so you are threading uncharted water right now. As long as the books are of 2016 edition for the NEW Mcat, you should be fine. Not enough experiences with Khan Academy to make a comment.
I don’t think you’re going to find a consensus on what MCAT prep series is the “best” simply because people have difference preferences and different approaches to prepping.
I’ve also seen a lot of people recommend ExamKrackers over Kaplan and Khan Academy.
Materials from every series have strengths & weaknesses. You may find doing a mix & match approach works best.
One feature you want to look at is the number of full length practice exams each series offers. The more the better.
Whatever you decide, do buy access to AMCAS’s retired full length exams. They will give you the best approximation to taking the real thing.
