Hi. I just wanted to update everyone regarding my earlier post. Our son was accepted to Santa Clara but was considering Junior college because the girlfriend was going to JC. You all gave us thoughtful and kind advice which we heeded. Someone in particular (sorry I can't give credit to the right person off the top of my head), said to just stay quiet at this point. We told him he had to choose between going to SC and living in the dorms (he wanted to commute) or going to JC and we weren't going to change those options. He had to make his decision. Then we shut-up. Well, he came home from admitted student preview day today trying to figure out which dorm he should live in and wondering if we would buy him a Santa Clara jacket! Good news. Anyway, thank you all again and I hope I can give some wise advice to others as the years go by.

WOOHOO William1…great news!

That’s great! A jacket sounds like small investment for the right decision. ;)

Great news!

Yay! So glad he saw the light.

ain’t that a boy for you?? LOL

Happy for you that it all worked out!

Did something happen with the GF in the meantime? Or did he finally wake up from the fog of war…

Good for you for clearly delineating the options and being open to both options.

Whohooo! Go Broncos! Nice job mom and dad.

Love success stories!
Yes, good to see another young man wake up and man up.

Ellemenope,
The girlfriend is still securely in the picture (which we have no problem with - very nice girl), but we will see if that changes over the next year. Glad he will have a chance to figure out if the relationship is strong enough to handle some separation.

He will grow and change while he’s living at SC. She – not so much.

HI! I was the one who suggested you go quiet for a while.

"My advice is to keep quiet for the next 2 weeks- let him mull over his options. Let him know he can ask you questions, but you have spoken your piece and its now up to him to decide. This tactic works wonders with Senior boys who want the independence to make up their own mind. Give it to him. "

So glad that tactic worked!

Thanks for the update. Wonderful news. Now Mom and Dad can enjoy the run-up to fall matriculation. On to the Twin XL sheet threads!

Just love happy endings…

Congrats!

WooHoo!! And congratulations!!

How did I MISS this one? Some threads get buried too fast! That SCU preview day was “sick”! My sons other love was LMU.

So glad it worked! Woohoo!
