Keeping the Candle Burning.. EA stands for Early Anxiety.. A Student's Thoughts

Tlaktan, jumping to 10th place will make a big difference in your evaluation. I second what Marite says, send this in in some way or the other.

I am at school right now, my counselor just signed the addendum. Do you think it will get there in time to impact EA decisions?

Thanks.

For all of you who scrambled after ED/EA schools not working out-did you get teacher/counselor recs before or after you heard the decision? I have schools in mind, but I feel stupid asking for a rec when I could just find out in a month that I got in to my ED school.

Tlaktan, if they send it today, it will probably be in time. Wasn't ED deadline on November 1st. They are not likely to start looking just now, this very minute. They should be able to look at it. Good luck!

Hoo, I would be ready with everything if I were you. My son's school said to give everything to them by December 11th. This was 2-3 days before the day we heard from ED school. My son gave everything to the school office by Dec 7th, I think. Did not take any chances and it turned out with good reason!

Tlaktan:

Most colleges (though not GTown, I know) allow Nov. SAT scores to be used for ED. My S's high school has not yet calculated the first quarter grades, so these will have to be sent in later this month. And I expect they will be considered with the rest of his application. Right now, I was told, the college is too busy opening EA envelopes to even note on websites which pieces of materials have been received yet. They have not had time to divvy up the task of reading folders! So I should think your new information will make it in plenty of time.

Hoo,

My niece had everything (including recs) in place and ready to mail before being deferred from her ED/EA school last year. It made it much, much easier to handle the initial disappointment. I spoke with her that night and I could tell that she felt so much better knowing that she was ready for round two and did not have essays to finish and did not need to ask for more recommendations. She just popped everything into the mail. Even if you have an excellent chance of getting in early, I think that being prepared for the next round is time well spent.

My daughter was not even remotely close to being done before she heard from her ED school two years ago. She was lucky and got in but I think that it would have been very difficult for her to psych up and finish the job after a deferral or rejection.

It is impossible not to be nervous the week that the decisions come out but for now try to shake it off. A walk, jog, swim....anything remotely athletic is a good stress release. Good luck to you.

What comes in those "big" acceptance packages - providing my S gets one.

::sigh::

I didn't tell my parents I'm applying to my favorite reach school using early action, just in case I don't get in. Then no one will know but me. I think it's better that way -- if I don't make it, I don't have to deal with people feeling sorry for me. ;-) And if I do, we can all jump for joy together.

But BOY I'm biting my nails...

you know, with just some very minor editing that first post would make a darn good essay!!

Destinypath: that's so funny. What school are you applying to?

I'll tell you if I get in. ;-)

Wow-and this is an anonymous board! LOL good luck!
