Kees money for NM Finalist going to UK on Patterson Scholarship?

If you receive the Patterson Scholarship, do you still receive the Kees money you earned? If so, will it cover expenses like gas/transportation?

Your best bet would be to call the scholarship office at UKy and ask directly. We were told they wouldn’t stack any other merit scholarships along with the Patterson, but not sure how Kees money is handled.

Good question. I was wondering that myself. I’m going to assume that they will credit to your account and you can apply that to whatever. I’ll call and ask when I have a chance.

I think I read that it gets credited, but if you have overaward that exceeds their cost of attendance (tuition, fees, room, board, book allowance, etc.) your scholarship is reduced.

OK - thank you for the information.

@LOUKYDAD Thanks for that! So reading this I am thinking that the KEES will not be reduced no matter what (see third bullet from the end) and that the Patterson will probably be reduced by that amount.

That is how I read it as well. Sounds like the Patterson covers all of the COA KEES money doesn’t cover, but won’t put any money in your pocket once COA is covered.

If you receive the Patterson Scholarship, you are eligible to receive any other award outside of UK’s academic scholarships (KEES, NMF, etc.) as long as it does not exceed the budgeted total academic year cost of attendance, which more than likely it will not. The the total academic year cost of attendance for 2016-2017 is about $28,000 in state so you will probably not exceed that.
