Did anyone else get the invite? And for anyone who's in the program, is it a rewarding program?

Here's a copy of the letter:
Dear Rosa,

Congratulations on your Direct Admission to the Kelley School of Business. Based on your Direct Admission status and your exceptional academic achievements, I am excited to inform you that you have been selected to apply for the Kelley School of Business Advanced Curricular Experience (ACE) Program!

While your formal invitation to apply will arrive in the mail shortly, let me provide you with more information about this unique opportunity.

The ACE Program is a cohort experience for a select group of Kelley Direct Admit freshmen. During their first year on campus, students take a variety of business honors courses and participate in opportunities focusing on leadership development, professional growth, and social responsibility. The program provides a pathway into the Business Honors Program if ACE participants satisfy the admissions criteria for the Kelley Business Honors Program.

Applications must be submitted no later than Wednesday, February 19th, 2014 to be considered by the selection committee. You will receive notification, via email, of your application status by Monday, March 24th, 2014.

@1214mom This email was sent to my gmail account. It was the email account I used to apply to Indiana. I got this email a few weeks ago and was wondering if any other Direct Admits got this too.

My daughter received the invite in late Jan, and the mailing a couple weeks ago. With winter sports and other ECs she has not applied yet but hoped to use this long Pres Day wkend to catch up on this as we are now on the deadline…

The ACE program stands for Advanced Curricular Experience at the IU Kelley School of Business. It is a brand new program starting in the Fall of 2014. Only a few select Direct Admit freshmen were invited. Some have suggested that it is a “Direct Admit into Kelley Honors”. But again, it’s new, so not many people can explain exactly what is involved or how the curriculum differs, etc

Hi! I was a little confused about the program as well-- I was automatically accepted into the program, so my email is a little different. Hope this helps-- it sounds like a really great opportunity!

Email:

Congratulations on being selected as a Fry Scholar! This is an amazing accomplishment that we commend you on. As a Fry Scholar you have also been automatically accepted to the Kelley School of Business Advanced Curricular Experience (ACE) Program. While your formal acceptance will arrive in the mail shortly, allow me to provide you a few more details about our program.

The ACE Program is made up of approximately 75 Direct Admit students who showed exceptional academic performance in high school and who we believe will do the same at the Kelley School of Business. We believe the select group we have chosen are the future leaders of Kelley and as such want to offer these students the perks of the ACE Program. By being a “Kelley ACE” you will be placed in a block with all of your other ACE classmates consisting of two honors business courses as freshmen. This honors block, which is only open to ACE students, consists of the only two honors courses available to Kelley students in their freshmen year. You will also receive advising from the Business Honors Advisors, receive mentoring from Honors Seniors as well as Honors alumni, and upon successful completion of the ACE Program you will be offered admission to the Kelley Business Honors Program your sophomore year (if you satisfy the admissions criteria for the Honors Program).

Congratulations again on your many accomplishments! We believe this opportunity will set you apart at the Kelley School of Business and open the doors for your success at Kelley and beyond.

It sounds like a wonderful opportunity! Jealous that it wasn’t offered last year One strange thing though – I know of many more than two honors courses available to Kelley students in their freshmen year, so I wonder which two they’re talking about. All of these classes have honors sections available to freshmen this year: K204 Computer in Business, X202 Technology, C106 Business Presentations, S118 Finite, S201 Microeconomics, A205 Financial Accounting and A207 Managerial Accounting. I’m sure there’s an honors-level Statistics class too.

I also got accepted today, but my email was worded a little differently:

Congratulations! As a result of your incredible accomplishments thus far and an outstanding application, we would like to offer you a spot in the Advanced Curricular Experience (ACE) Program at the Kelley School of Business. While your formal acceptance will arrive in the mail shortly, allow me to provide you a few more details about our program.

so… we are attending Connect with Kelley this weekend. My DD has received the Deans plus a generous amt. from Hutton… but we know nothing about a special dinner this weekend for Scholarship recipients? I guess that means no Fry? She did fill out the special app. She has great stats, tons of ECs with Leadership… but I am guessing our FAFSA hurt us. And we all know it doesnt take much. Unfortunate because OOS is SO expensive and she loves IU.
