@wheatonmom Not yet, still waiting… please update me if you get…
Thanks @blackbird881! And I’ll report back once she hears @vcmaster.
I can’t see many people other than Maryland residents choosing Smith over Kelley. However, I can see some Kelley admits waiting to hear from Wisconsin (BBA) and Michigan (Ross). There could be other schools as well. Kelley will put on a great show at its admitted students days the first couple of weeks of February. That’s for sure.
Wisconsin is awesome in the warm months. Union on the lake, beer sold at the union. Sitting out there just relaxing. Then good football, decent basketball, and hockey. What’s not to like? Winter, the frozen tundra.
Iu has a milder winter climate, historic, if not improving basketball, little 5000, a great town and brown county/lake Monroe. But I am biased.
@yourmomma great assessments of both. I agree with you. The other thing I noticed about IU is it has more beautiful, open green spaces than Wisconsin. Wisconsin does have the lake and the Union terrace and a lovely lake front trail from there, but the green spaces at IU and all of the natural beauty and trees there really made an impression on me. Also, I think many more attractive, historic looking buildings at IU.
@wheatonmom , Quick note regarding your daughter’s concerns on her high school following her to IU: I had very similar concerns coming here, (my graduating class sent upwards of 50 people to IUB) but given the massive size of the school it’s very easy to have a fresh start if that’s what she’s looking for. Being a nature-lover, I’m a big fan of IU and business school has been wonderful too. The quality of people in kindness and intelligence continues to surprise me.
Hi guys! I am from California and was admitted to IU in early November. I recently was admitted to the Hutton Honors College but I have heard nothing back from Kelley about being a direct admit. I have a 1450 on the SAT, as well as a 4.0 UW and 4.62W GPA, so I believe that my stats qualify for direct admittance, but it has now been a little more than 5 weeks with no response. Should I contact them about my DA status? Also, I saw that there are Kelley Direct Admit Scholarships and some of them even apply to OOS applicants. Is there a separate application for these or are these covered under the General Scholarship App and the SSA? Do I need to wait to submit my GA and SSA until I hear from Kelley so I can be eligible for those scholarships? Thanks!
@ugradbiz As long as you applied by November 1 and marked a business major on your application, you will be a direct admit. It takes several weeks before they tell you for some reason. You shouldn’t need to wait to submit scholarship applications - they know you are a direct admit. And I believe all of the DA scholarships are covered under the general application and the SSA other than the Fry Scholarship. You should apply for Fry if you are an underrepresented minority, but otherwise, you won’t get Fry anyway. Contacting them about your DA status couldn’t hurt if you are concerned about it, but you should be fine even if you don’t contact them.

@iubaccounting Thank you very much! I really appreciate it. I submitted my GSA today and am finishing up my SSA tomorrow. I decided to only contact them if I don’t hear by this Thursday because it will be 6 weeks since my acceptance to IU and Kelley’s website says that you should hear about DA within 4-6 weeks. I’m white so it doesn’t look like the Fry Scholarship is an option for me haha. Do you happen to know how generous Kelley is with DA scholarships or what a typical award amount from them is like?
@ugradbiz my DS is still waiting for DA notice too, it’s been 4 weeks for us. Let us know when you finally hear or what they say if you call. Thanks!
My son got an email today for DIrect Admit Business, we waited for 5 weeks after acceptance. Finally good news…
@Meant2B I just got my DA acceptance email a little bit ago! Pretty excited. Did your son get his?
Direct acceptance came via email this afternoon!
Nothing here yet, week 4 ugh Congrats to all who have heard!!
Update, DS received DA email confirmation today!
Got email notification from Kelley directly admitting my daughter yesterday 12/18. It took almost 5 weeks.
3.95 weighted

Does anyone have any idea what percent of Kelley class consists of direct admits? My son got in and is going to the Direct Admit Day on Feb. 2 but part of my excitement about Kelley is that it seems a cut above rest of IU. Not to denigrate IU because it’s a decent school but clearly Kelley is one of their Crown Jewels and I’m seriously thinking that Kelley will be a better place for my son even if he got into Michigan (Ross) which is technically considered by many the better school. Yes, Kelley is ranked high in Poets but overall IU reputation is still less than Michigan. I am a HUGE fan of Kelley- everything they are doing seems so student and career focused. I went to Carnegie Mellon (undergrad) and Columbia for my MBA and Kelley beats both hands down on how well they are positioning their school.
Also does anyone know the difference between Business Honors and Hilton Honors. My son missed the SAT cut off by 20 points but made the GPA cutoff so he might petition but it’s a bit confusing what’s what and whether it’s even that big a deal to do the honors track vs. “regular” Kelley.
Meant Hutton honors lol.
@parentbethesda I believe it is about 30-35% of the class
