Hi all,
I was recently admitted to Kelley as a direct admit as well as the Hutton honors college. I also received the Dean’s Scholarship for 11k.
I am very intrigued by this offer and Kelley is likely going to be the highest ranked b-school I get into. However, I am worried about the culture at IU. I have heard that social life there is frat-dominated. I don’t have a problem with frats, but I am more on the introverted side and don’t drink very much and would definitely be a GDI. Would I survive at IU and are there others like me? In addition, is there a best place for me to live? I have the option of the Kelley LLC, Hutton, or (since I will be 19) likely Willkie South.
Thanks
I don’t think it will be a problem. I’m currently a junior in Kelley and have a similar personality. My current roommates and I don’t drink much, and none of my friends are in a frat. I have a solid core group of friends here, although some of them came from my high school. We’d rather play pickup basketball or watch IU sports than drink and party. Overall, I really like IU and I think Kelley is a great school.
If you have more affordable options, I would definitely consider those though. Prestige of a school isn’t all that it’s made out to be unless maybe you are going into a very specific career field such as investment banking. Let me know if you have any specific questions.
@iubaccounting Thank you for your reply! That definitely made me feel better about it. I’m looking forward to admitted student day in February to learn more about Kelley. I think your right about prestige, and that’s why I have been trying to focus more on fit than pure prestige/ranking, especially since I’m not really interested in IB.
Thanks!
