Hey guys I just recently got a mail from KLLC saying that my application had been accepted but yet had to be assigned.

I assumed that assignment take place according to your contract date but I have been surprised with what I read, it said assignments would made from the pool as on 1st may depending not at all the application date but on the basis of geography gender and DA/UA.

So does this mean that the assignment is based on luck on stil sending the application early would have some advantage.

I actually spoke in person with the lady who runs the rooming assignments, and she said that they focus on encouraging diversity, so it is unlikely that you will be rooming with someone from your zip code or even your state. And when did you get informed about your status, and when did you submit your application? I’m still waiting on my application.

I requested a roommate who wasn’t from my state, and the lady said that that would “improve your chances”, as they were. I think it is a consideration, just not a top one like it would be in other dorms. You’ll have to wait and see!

I’m not sure what you mean by “luck”, but they do take geography, gender, DA status into account.

They try to get an even mix of male/female, OOS/IS, and DA/Not DA. So if you are a female or from far away, you may have a “better” chance of getting assigned to the KLLC. The timing of your application is still very important though.

^ thanks for the information. With luck I meant that if they have a few people from the same locality say all boys and DA, how do they decide who to select.

No letter here yet. Did anyone other than sarveshkalra get a letter? @sarveshkalra, was it a letter or an email? My daughter’s timing is similar to yours - submitted the housing app and payment on 1/10 but didn’t write the KLLC essays until 2/4. Doesn’t look like the geography/gender/DA diversity will work in our favor - female, Chicago-area DA is probably an “over-represented” group :)

Well I am an international student. So I got an email with the letter as an attachment. Idk if u will get the letter directly or in the mail. I believe u shud get the mail within a few weeks.

When I contacted them they made me understand that paying early is helpful at most places but not at the KLCC. They r gonna assign from the accepted pool as on 1st may.

So even if someone applies by mid April nd gets accepted his nd are chances of assignment are equal.

*FREDFIG that is what is I was trying to ask. No as u say there would be many accepted applications like your daughter who are DA’s from Illinois but they will only select a few. So then how do they differentiate nd select some nd reject the others.

I just received my notification via snail mail. I live in Indiana, and applied a week after it opened in January.

In terms of their selection criteria, it seemed pretty vague when I asked during my visit. They look to see how involved the individual is, as you are expected to be involved in the Kelley LLC through the required course and other activities. They look at how much you participated in your community (And not necessarily only in business activities, as I was accepted and have only one year of business club)

I was kind of surprised by the multiple references to the location of candidates at its primacy, but I wouldn’t despair. Acceptance rates are pretty high, and if a student was a direct admit then clearly they have something going for them.

Snail mail letter arrived today, letter is dated Feb. 18. Now I better understand your questions, sarveshkalra. The letter specifically says “application date and roomate preferences are not taken into consideration”, just geography, gender and DA/UD status. So I too wonder what criteria they use to select from the pool of approved applicants, especially when you are a member of an “over-representated” group. I doubt anyone knows the answer to that though.

I applied the weekend the application opened with payment and full essays. I live in Missouri and as you know, we’ve just been hit by the biggest snowstorm of the year. Snail mail will not get to me for a couple of days so I was wondering if the acceptance can also be found in email? I really believe I had a strong chance and am very curious to know now if I made it or not.

Thanks and congrats to those who have already found out!

@Coste, my daughter did not receive an email yet (she checked both personal account and iu account), just the snail mail. Good luck with the snow! It’s just starting to snow now in the Chicago area.

I checked my IU email after finding the password and was disappointed nothing had arrived. Look like I’ll just have to be content with waiting patiently for the mail next week. Is there any process to know if you didn’t make the LLC? I’m guessing you could always call to clear things up and find out.

Hopefully the storm has broken up by now, it left a good few inches of pure ice on the roads. Our public school system, St. Louis Public Schools, never calls off and they’ve officially declared Thursday and Friday as snow days (I live in an area that usually calls because of our curvy roads). Businesses are closed and our highways had a three hour, bumper to bumper standstill. Wishing you guys the best!

Got my letter for the Kelley LLC today, was happy.

Sarves, embarrassing to admit this, but I still haven’t sent it out. I’m awaiting one more person to contact me back regarding my cover letter draft. Deadline is March 1 so I am pushing it, but I’m mailing it Monday and it should be in their hands by Wednesday.
