I submitted my application to IU, indicating Kelley business major, a couple weeks ago. On the website, it says that applicants who submit their info after November 1st need to fill out a petition if their stats (ACT/SAT/GPA) are below the Kelley requirement.
I have a 4.26 weighted and 34 ACT.
Do I still need to fill out a petition because I applied after 11/1? Or will I be automatically considered because both of my stats are above the required scores?
darknight19 is wrong. It says on the website “Any student who applies to IU after November 1 who wishes to be considered for direct admission should petition.”
I was speaking from experience, but it looks like the November deadline is a part of the guaranteed admittance requirements, so if you didn’t meet that then definitely petition.
I’m applying to IU as well, and I was wondering about the same thing.
The site says that in order to petition, you must meet one of the requirements for guaranteed admission and be lower in the other requirement, which is quite confusing.
@iubaccounting UW 4.0, and 2340 on the old SAT (an equivalent of ~1580 using the concordance table). I meet both criteria but since they said you should only petition if you are lower in one category, I’m not sure what to do.
@pandaholic2 As long as you applied by November 1 and marked a business major, you don’t need to petition. You should be notified a few weeks after acceptance that you are a DA
@pandaholic2@iubaccounting This is where I’m confused as well. IU says you can only petition if you are BELOW in one of the categories, but also says that all post-11/1 applicants should file a petitions. Vague. No response from admissions yet, but I’m sure they’re just in office during the weekends.
@pandaholic2 You need to petition if you are applying after November 1. Basically, there are 4 requirements to be a DA automatically: Apply by November 1, mark a business major, GPA, and SAT/ACT scores. If you do not meet all 4, then petition. (Although if mark a business major was the one you are missing, you can just email IU and they can change it)
