so right now i am trying to decide between two of my schools. My first choice is Indiana university bloomington(kelley) and my really close second choice is Southern methodist university in dallas(cox business school). I want to dual major in marketing and finance. also I was not a direct admit to either schools business school but i know that i will not have a problem transferring in my 2nd year. But my question is how is the job placement at Kelley for undergrads? like in which city do students with undergrad degrees from kelley get jobs (ex. in Indiana or New york or chicago) because I know that kelley is a top 10 business school but i really do not want a job in Indiana. Also what are the starting salaries for kelley students, and do most of the students get a job right after they graduate? SMU I know does not have a well known business school like indiana, but with an SMU degree I could get the best job in Dallas(i live in dallas currently) however a degree from SMU is not as known outside the dallas area. So the question is should I got to Indiana university with the hopes of getting a great job in Chicago or new york or similar big cities or should I stay in Dallas and go to SMU? please help! I really want to go to Indiana University, but I don't want to base everything off of Kelley business school's top rating in USNEWs.

well I did find some salary stats for undergraduate salaries, and looks like indiana university has a slightly higher starting salary then SMU. However i would still like some opinions from the readers.

great job placement. many find a job in chicago or indianapolis. Kelley has great connections and great opportunities.

kelley seems to be really unique in its approach and seems to offer a good education. This ensures success beyond the starting salary, which leads to bonuses and raises later.

Its funny my son’s final decision was between IU and SMU also…he decided on IU after meeting with both business schools dean. Both are great schools no doubt about, but my son thought the edge was with Kelley due to the jobs and other opportunities.

We are OOS also, and he says he made the right decision.

Its good to hear that I’m not the only one who is having to choose between these two schools thanks for the opinion cheezwhiz and def454. Anyone more opinions?

Kelley sends about 1/3-2/5 of it’s graduates to Illinois each year (I am sure almost all of them to the Chicagoland area).
