I just got into UNC and i want to major in business, but I have a few questions about Kenan Flagler. After what year do you apply? How hard is it to get into Kenan Flagler? What percentage of students do they accept? Is there a set IS to OOS ratio? Any answers appreciated

Students who have completed their first year at UNC and admitted UNC transfer students are eligible to apply for Undergraduate Business admission beginning July 1 to start as soon as the following spring semester. It is challenging to get admitted. In fact during an orientation presentation, they said it was the hardest major to get into at UNC. The Kenan-Flagler Business School saw a 15 percent increase in applicants this year, a jump that school officials said came, in part, because of the uncertain job market. This year, 691 UNC students applied to the undergraduate business program and they accepted approximately 55%. I don’t know about the IS vs OOS ratio.

thanks for the help

Current BSBA here- Just adding to what rbikid said, it is hard but definitely not impossible. There are certain prereq classes you have to take before you can be in the business school (economics, statistics, and accounting). If you do well in those, your chances are a lot higher. In general, if your GPA is 3.5 or above and you’ve got a couple of solid extra curriculars then you’ll be fine.

Also, even if you get rejected, its not the end of the story. You can still take business classes if there are extra spots, and you can go to the admin staff after you’ve done that. If you well in those classes, theres no reason for them to say to no.
