Hi! I am looking to attend boarding school for either 10th-12th grade or 11th-12th grade. I am a student interested in volleyball, choir, theatre, business, leadership opportunities, and travel.
I am still keeping my mind open to other schools. I keep going back and forth about Groton and Hotchkiss still is in my mind so if you would like to suggest a school I have not mentioned, I would love to hear from you as well as parents and students attending the four I’m most interested in. Any helpful perspectives to assist in my choices and thought process are welcome!
Thank you so much!
You should explore all of them (and maybe some others), but try not to pick a favorite until you know who has accepted you. Hopefully, you will be able to visit to tour and interview at some point in the fall, and again, hopefully, you will be able to revisit after you have been accepted.
One thing you should consider OP is the size of the school and how many 11th grade students are accepted. Are you looking for a particular program, sports or area of study? Perhaps this can help you narrow your search?
Very different schools, sizes, and locations. Groton is a small school in a beautiful rural setting. St George’s has a spectacular campus and location, with close proximity to Newport (Dragon Wagon brings you to town). SPS (Concord, NH) is also a spectacular campus - larger - highly competitive - there are a number of folks on here who can share insights. Hotchkiss is a great school, beautiful campus with a beautiful view above a valley in CT. This is rural setting, but about 2 hours from NYC. Kent - even less than 2 hour drive from NYC - smaller campus but very pretty in a valley, rural setting in a beautiful country town of Kent, CT. Think of it as maybe more suburban because of it’s proximity to well known areas surrounding NY & CT.
Check out the available videos from each school and YouTube videos.

You might want to apply to more than four schools? Let us know what you are looking for and we can hear additional schools to consider.
Kent may seem like it has a smaller campus because the buildings are clustered fairly closely together however the campus is 1200 acres which puts it among largest BS campuses. Of the schools mentioned here, only SPS is larger. PM me if you have any questions about Kent or Hotchkiss. I’ve had kids at both.
