accepted!
Daughter accepted with 20K in merit. 35 ACT, 3.98 UW GPA, solid ECs.
Okay so a few weeks ago in my portal my application was marked as complete and then today I go to look at my decision and it says Kenyon has not received my school report. I emailed my admissions counselor to find out why this happened, but I’m going to be very disappointed if I cannot still be considered since I did everything on my end. I understand these mistakes happen and Kenyon is such a great place that I still really want to have a chance attend this fall. Praying everything works out
@ChaosParent23 I really want to know about this because I applied and kinda thought I would get it
Accepted! Very happy 33 ACT 3.8 GPA
International SAT 1420 IB 44 accepted with 40k
Accepted with a 15k per year music scholarship and an excellent need-based package (covers the entire cost of attendance along with music scholarship).
31 ACT, 3.9 W GPA, good ECs, and I assume some good recommendation letters!
Son was accepted. No merit, but generous need-based help. We’ll call and see what they can do. We have a solid offer from a competitor that offered $34k in renewable merit. Does anyone know if Kenyon negotiates?
@buckeyeinbama Actually I have that they will. But, if your S didn’t get any merit at Kenyon, they aren’t going to then give him much merit money. My understanding from when we visited is that the top 10% of applicants get merit money. Some of those kids got $25k per year but some got more like $10k. They aren’t like Denison or the othe rLACs in Ohio where almost everyone gets merit.
@homerdog
Do international students get good merit aid too? I had a 1440 and almost a perfect GPA with solid ECs and essay. I got accepted in the ED2 round but didn’t get a cent as merit money. My huge financial need was fully met though. Of course, there is nothing I can do now since I have already accepted my spot. But just a bit curious
@ItsComingHome I have no idea if merit is offered to internationals. We are in the US. When I asked about merit aid, I was told that top 10% of the class is offered some merit. For us, it was an important question because we aren’t getting any need based aid.
S accepted 1470 SAT, All A’s, several AP’s, 18 college credits of dual enrollment through St. Bonaventure, 4 year starter soccer - Captain, 3 year starter basketball - captain, class president, concert band, jazz band. - $15,000 merit, no financial
Waitlisted. International looking for (almost) a full ride.
Thank you, @homerdog
We’ll give it a shot and see what they say.
@buckeyeinbama I think it would have to be a school like Grinnell or Macalester to get their attention. I don’t think money from Miami of Ohio or Wooster or Ohio U will sway Kenyon. They don’t see them as equals.

@homerdog Well, Kenyon didn’t budge and so my son told his AO he won’t be attending. We moved from a return on investment conversation to a risk/reward conversation. Just too much potential downside financially in this scenario with the potential for spiraling debt, and starting adulthood drowning in debt is a terrible thing. My son is taking a full merit scholarship at another school… certainly not renowned… but he’ll be okay. He’s going in eyes wide open.
