KENYON waitlist?

ok please help! i was waitlisted at kenyon and i was really surprised...2260 sat, 4.0 unweighted gpa, 8 aps by end of senior year (4 5s on the ones ive taken so far) 770,700,730,780 on sat subject tests, lots of varsity sports, an editor of literary mag for school, volunteer hours as tutor and other stuff, other ECs, in to ucla regents, berkeley honors (regents pending), ucsb, ucsc, macalester...im sort of freaking out and worried about hearing from ivies after this. does anyone know if kenyon doesnt accept ppl they think will get a better offer from another school???

like tufts syndrome or yield protection or whatever?

first of all, and no offense, you need to chill. Everyone is not going to get into every school. You have a regents at UCLA and honors at Berkeley...plus Macalester. You already have some outstanding options, and ones that many people would kill for (not literally of course)---and as good a chance to get into some of the ivies as anyone.

alright, i saw your stats on the kenyon site, but just gotta tell you again.... kenyon's absolutely crazy. did you accidentally say "i love harvard" in your essay, or did one of your recommendations talk about how you're an ax murderer?
i don't think this is indicative of how the ivies will respond to you, especially if you're in all those other great schools.
good luck, and i hope you get in! is it your first choice?

yeah i know sorry...i just like the school a lot and im a bit disapointed...thanks sarahhs! it was definitely near the top of my list but im trying to avoid picking a "first choice" for exactly this reason (waitlist/rejection)

Two years back my S, with SAT's below yours, was accepted at Kenyon but waitlisted at Macalester. It all depends on what each school is looking for in each class. You have some great choices already and good luck with the ivys.

I also think admission at Kenyon was “especially competitive” this year, and that got an “abnormal amount of highly qualified applicants.” At least this is what they said in my waitlist letter.

This is a two year old thread. I don’t think the OP is worried any longer.
