Key Club Treasurer Speech

So, I'm running to be my Key Club's treasurer. I'd like for some assistance as to what else I can add to my speech. I'm great friends with the current VP (Who's been in the club for three years) and he says that the only challenge i would have is one other person who's been in the club for two years already. (This is my first year and I'm a freshman). We had interviews a couple of weeks ago and I made the cut along with her and one other person out of nine who tried out, so I must have done something right.

Here's what I have:
-I've organized a booster club for karate (Since we compete internationally) and raised over 8000$ last year.
-I'm organized.
-I'm dedicated to the club. (I'm within the top eight hours out of a club with over 80 active members. I have about 30 hours over her for this year)

And that's pretty much it to be honest. The thing that worries me is that she:Has been in the club for 2 years and is currently tech chair on administrative board. So yeah, any ideas for something I can put into my speech to put me over the top?

I thought of doing something at the end like: "Please vote for me blahblahblah, however even if I don't get elected, I'm sure that any of the other candidates could take the club to new heights" or something of that mannerism to show that i'm not crazy about this election and that I truly do think of this club as my family and won't let it get to my head. Is this a good idea?

So yeah, any help on any points to add to my speech would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

EDIT: Not sure if this is helpful, but I'm also pretty good at math (Only currently in geometry though). The past three years I have scored absolutely perfect on my mathematics CSTs (California standardized tests) with an average of 90 problems on each test.

Do not stumble and look at the crowd while you are speaking. Speak loud and clear. In your speech, you should talk about how you could improve the club by being treasurer. What makes you unique from other candidates? And yeah, I wouldn’t recommend saying your good at math, unless your trying to get the crowd to laugh as a joke.

I wouldn’t recommend saying bad things about the other candidates, because you could be viewed as a pretentious snob. Be positive in your speech. Don’t be like Rick Santorum. You should end it like something, “Vote for the candidate who you believe will do the better job as a candidate. You don’t have to vote for me, if you don’t want to.”

Don’t ramble during your speech. One person had like a 10 minute speech, and it was pretty boring. Aim for about two minutes, your not going to be President Obama. Anyways, I wish I was as dedicated as you for Key Club.

At my school Key Club is the biggest along with CSF. There are over 140 active members in Key Club. Pretty ridiculous.

I think your credentials are very good…I’m not sure how much time you have, but try and become better friends with the people in your club. Essentially, if they know you better, they’ll vote for you. Also, when you’re mentioning your accomplishments, try saying it in a subtle way. Be very confident while you speak and try memorizing your speech so that you can look at everyone while you speak. Good luck!:)

Hey, would you look at that, I’m running for Key Club Treasurer too! I can see that you’re dedicated. I would say something like, “Although I am only a freshman, I have tried to make the most of my time in Key Club by being dedicated to this club in every way possible, and to community service as a whole.” Good luck to you! I have to give my speech tomorrow, haha. So nervous!

Because you’re a freshman, you have more time to commit to key club.

It’s a popularity contest, dummy. Go make some friends.

^ Agreed.

10 char

You should be fine as long as you have a decent amount of friends.

It’s good you’re preparing your speech now instead of winging it. I have been in KC all four years of high school and an officer 3 of those years- tres. and sec. My only suggestions are not to beg and give examples of how dedicated you are and how much it would mean to you/what you would do. Also, it’s a bit of a popularity contest so if you have any friends in the club that is a huge help.

Yes, definitely try to make more friends at the club. You can say your accomplishments, but say it very humbly and make it feel as if you would help out in the club in a big way…:)
