Key Strategies for ibt TOEFL?

Hey guys I taking it tomorrow though if you have a key tip in any section of the ibt TOEFL please share it with me (especially for the reading, I always have a blockage in reading the whole text and when I do, I have difficutlties to answer the questions>> I must read and re-read every single part related to a specific question!.What should I do? read the entire text before answering or just read the ongoing paragraph of the question? :) thank you!

just a quick glance to locate the key info in the passage n then move to the ques....u will NOT have time to read the passage carefully. and toefl is getting tougher, as u must know. so dun waste time reading the whole passage carefully.

try not to skip questions...do them right away serially. or else u will just get confused

MOST IMPORTANT: dont change ur test strategy at this last moment. do what u have been practising. any change will do little good. stick to ur practice strategy.

alright! Thank you rmaharjan! I`ll hopefully stay relax! Actually I am stressed out by this exam since I must score over 100>>> I am applying to ivies. I have been practicing with Kaplan and read about the ETS book.

For the reading and listening sections, jot down key points of the passage as you go. You might not necessarily use the notes u've made, but i've found that it helps me remember critical points. Good luck!

I will take it a month later..so lately I've been practicing too. :)
usually what I do on the reading is to read the openning paragraph first to get an idea about what is being discussing. then I go to the question. basically I found that there will be 1-2 questions on each paragraph. I usually look at the questions first and find out the key word. and then I look for the keyword in the paragraph and read the 2-3 lines above and below the sentence where the keyworde locates. if necessary, I read the whole paragraph. well this is my personaly experience, hope it helps.:)

I think u'd better strive to score over 110 though since the competition is really tough now. most people I know and who got into ivies scored higher than 110. good luck!

It is imperative that you maintain your focus during the TOEFL iBT. It will be very easy to get distracted because you will hear other people in the room speaking into their headsets. Don't pay attention to them at all. Focus on YOUR test!

Take simple notes from the reading. Just one or two words about each paragraph will do.

If the listening section is a conversation make one column for the first speaker and another column for the second speaker so that your notes are clear.

For all of the essays, and for the speaking segment ANSWER THE QUESTION. Focus on that question, and answer it first. Then you can support your answer if you have time. But remember to ANSWER THE QUESTION before you add anything else.

thank you guys! I took it this morning today. That was quite doable. my speaking and my writing remain to see though. I actually my last sentence of my essay did not end up. :(

Otherwise I am calmly waiting for the score meanwhile preparing for the SAT IIs. Good luck by the way to all of you and thanks again.
