Earlier today, I received an email notification that I've been dismissed from my university due to my low GPA. I actually talked to my academic adviser about transferring from the School of Engineering to the School of Arts and Sciences right after this past semester's finals week because right after my last final, I realized that even though I really liked engineering, it was never the right major for me because I have always excelled at humanities based courses. I passed my two engineering classes but I failed two of my Gen Ed classes, calculus II and chemistry II, and a civil engineering based course. I really did try hard to pass all my passes this semester, I went to my older engineering friends for help when my professors where unavailable or unhelpful, I got a tutor over the summer to help review calc 2 because it was my second time taking it this semester. I stayed in on weekends instead of going out to study and review. I am really worried about what should be my next step. Should I reapply to the same university but to a different school within the institution? I did want to carry out an internal transfer afterall. Should I take a semester off? I could write a novel about what I learned about myself from this experience on here to be quite honest. Anyone who have been kicked out of university, how did you cope? What did you do to put yourself on the right path again? What was your thought process?
