kids already in college, can they apply for rowing scholarships?

My daughter starter college this past fall. She decided to walk into the rowing team and made it. She's rowing and loves it. my question is are there scholarships for athletes once they are already enrolled in school? Her grades are great, she did get a academics partial scholarship. Just wondering if there is something out there? college is expensive.

For someone in your daughter’s situation, the best resource she has is her coach. That is the gatekeeper for scholarships if there are any.

One does not “apply for” a rowing scholarship.

Scholarship money is distributed based on the coach’s desires.
Some (many?) coaches will hold off scholarship $ until a rower’s second year (or later).
So yes, walk-ons can get scholarship money.

Rowing is an “equivalency sport” and the maximum number of scholarships that Div I or II programs can have is 20.

So, therefore, keep in mind that very few, if any, rowers are on a full ride.
Most are receiving partial money.
It’s a nice help but I don’t imagine it’s going to make a huge dent for most families.

Walk-ons often get scholarships. Usually with rowing, scholarhsips are awarded/increased as the rower’s career goes on. So a walk-on might get offered $5,000 as a junior and double that as a senior when they make the varsity boat – and nothing before. Those numbers are totally hypothetical and obviously vary program to program. As GolfFather said, very very few rowers are on a full ride.
