Strengths: SAT , SATII, national math competition champion team, varsity sports, IB

Thanks! I'll chance back!

Applying for a bunch of schools with very low acceptance numbers is usually not a good thing. That said, the following is likely

Princeton, Columbia, U Penn - reaches
Berkeley, Cornell - high matches

As for setting up yourself for disaster, it is certainly possible you wont be accepted anywhere. Why didn’t you bother to check a few more boxes on your UC app for other easier schools in the UC system?

On the other hand, you certainly have a chance at all those schools.

Thanks for the advice!

I agree, I should apply to more schools to expand options. Would you recommend applying for more reach schools (like Chicago, Stanford) or applying for more matches (UCs, Georgia Tech)

Apply to all, if possible. The general consensus on CC is

1-2 safties
2-3 matches
4-5 reaches

yes, you’re setting yourself up for disaster. there’s a high possibility you won’t be accepted anywhere. apply to schools with acceptance rates higher than 30% and higher than 50%, and apply to schools you can afford especially canadian universities.

Please, get yourself a Canadian safety (if you want any of UBC, McGill and U Toronto, have another Canadian safety on top of those) unless you already have one.

Princeton: Reach
UPenn: Reach
Columbia: Reach
Cornell: High match
Berkeley: Match (if you can pay full freight)
