Kind of scared about Berkeley...

So I love Berkeley for what I want to major in and its like the best University in California, but I'm scared about the parties. I heard that having fun at Berkeley is to do drugs or else you'll be an outcast and that the whole point of going to the parties at Berkeley is to get high and drunk... So I just want someone to validate this idea because I'm unsure if its true or not.
Honestly, does everyone do drugs there?
Word around town is that Berkeley is full of druggies.

I hope you’re not ■■■■■■■■, but Berkeley’s a large campus with a wide variety of people, and different people party for different reasons.

I’ve definitely had some fun outside of getting high / drunk. There’s just so much to do: just about any club you can think of, something’s always happening on campus 24/7, etc.

Just keep an open mind and use some common sense. If you’re starting to feel uncomfortable at a party, leave.

lol well…I went out one night and one of the girls I was with wasn’t drinking. No one forces you to drink and no one really knows if you do or don’t. People gets drinks for 2 seconds and then go to the dance floor. I heard Fiji (the frat) is known for date rape so stay away from there? I haven’t been so I don’t know for sure. lol another girl also said that her friend doesn’t drink but she goes to frats. there’s no pressure.

i don’t know a lot of people who do drugs. there are people who do and those might be extreme cases but I guess i chose innocent friends? hah so yeah don’t worry about it.

Don’t worry, it’s more scared of you than you are of it.

Thanks. I was just wondering about that.

I’m not ■■■■■■■■ its just what I heard and I wanted to find out if it was true or not.

Anyways, very helpful and my nerves are definitely more at ease.

Go out with friends you trust and who won’t pressure you excessively, and you should be fine. There are definitely people who don’t drink and will just dance or whatever, as well.
