Wrote my cultural one about a guy from Ghana who lived with me for a year- 500 words

I'm a pretty good writer, so I think I have some solid essays.

Kind of worried because my GPA blows.

Does the UW consider Running Start grades important? I did really well at Running Start, I just had a horrible Sophomore year.

The last time you can retake the SAT for UW is in December. Your reading score is okay but your math score is at the 25% percentile. Your writing score is under the middle 50% but UW doesn’t weigh the section as much as the other two sections. Your GPA is low for UW standards but the fact that all of your classes have been either honors/AP/running start is what will get you in. The UW also wants you to be involved in activities long term so hopefully your play baseball, golf and your other activities for all 4 years of your high school career. The essays are very important in admission decisions at UW so the fact that you think you’ve aced them is good. Also are you first generation and/or in-state (around 80% of freshmen come from in-state)? These will also help you get in.

Here’s the admissions statistics for UW (2009). It might help you see where you stand among other students.

Do you think having my AA will help me get in also?

Another thing, I didn’t play sports once I got a job my Sophomore year, I didn’t have enough time to play along with school and work. I let them know that in the application. I also highlighted that I played in a band and other non school related activities… I dunno if that will help.

I’ve read somewhere that transfer students from community colleges need to have a 3.3 GPA or something like that. If I have a high 3.8 or maybe even a 3.9 at Green River, along with some pre reqs out of the way for my potential major, will that be a factor even though I’m not applying as a transfer?
