Hi,
My son did Running Start and his GPA was about the same as yours. He got in Honors. I would say spend time on your essays. Even if you feel that your EC’s are not that great, make them great by telling U.W. what they meant to you and/or how they changed or impacted you for the best. Use a story to illustrate the point. Go to the U.W. Freshman session, this was invaluable for my son as they explain exactly what they are looking for. They really stress the essays and give examples of what they like.

Oh, you may want to also try to raise your SAT. I think the last day you can take the test for U.W. admission is in December.

thank you for the reply. i went to one of the sessions during july and im going to make my essay really good.

please, anyone else?

Big on what tessey said - post 2.

At the moment, there are 3 things that you can change about your application:

 1. SAT score (TBD)
 2. Personal statements
 3. Extra Curricular descriptions

For number 2 and 3, have some one who is very familiar with admissions processes (perhaps a college counselor at school?) or English teacher, parent, a friend who is an English major, etc check over your work.

Again, quoting tessey on this: “make them great by telling U.W. what they meant to you and/or how they changed or impacted you for the best. Use a story to illustrate the point.”

Also answer: What was YOUR role? Who did you impact positively? What have you learned from your experiences? How has this affected your career plans or just outlook in life in general?

Don’t be afraid to make your extra curricular explanations longer than just a few sentences; yes, be succinct in what you say, but say a lot. Show a lot.

Good luck :)

Just FYI again. I said your stats were similar and they are as far as GPA and Running Start. I think his SAT score was somewhere around 2050 so that is why I think you should study to bring your score up. I think the average U.W. student is around 1900. You can check the College Board website for detailed stats.
