Kinda worried..poor stats

Well this may sound completely arrogant and maybe even a bit facetious to some, but I honestly feel I'm one of the more intelligent people in my school. Problem was...I am lazy. I have a 3.28 G.P.A, my personal statements were incredible, and I have an abundant amount of EC's. I am involved in two varsity level sports, vice president of two clubs, in an exclusive service group at my school which needed a rigorous interview process, and I'm the treasurer of the school. My test scores were mediocre though. I got a 1700 on the SAT's and refused to pay money to "improve" my grade. I decided to take the ACT before admissions and scored 25 with a fever. What are my chances at getting into UCI?

i feel ya man. Sometimes when i talk to people with 4.0+ GPA, some have no common sense whatsoever on alot of things.
my stats are pretty similar, i hope i get in >.<
i have a 3.35 GPA with alot of ECs
i play a varsity level sport
ACT --> 24
SAT --> 1410
SAT II --> Mathlvl2-540 USH-460

^1410 is kinda low. Hopefully, if you have good essays, you get through.

yeah but my ACT is 24 which is equivalent to like a 1600+ so yeah... still low but my essays are pretty good. i've had like over 20 people read it and give me suggestions hehe. ><

Don't worry too much,

what is ur intended major?

I have a friend who got into UCI with a 1400

^

preferred is INFORMATION AND COMPUTER SCIENCE UNDECLARED , and my alternate is UNAFFILIATED UNDECLARED.

i really doubt ill get in with ICS. maybe i have a chance with "unaffiliated undeclared"?

btw what was ur friends stats other than SAT? do u know?

Ahh, yeah it depends on your major I guess, or your other stats to really back you up.
My SAT is REALLY low. 1440. I got in though but my super good essay and gpa 4.2 helped me.
I got in under envir engineer. I hope you get it!

bombatwist

My friend got with a 3.9 GPA, a 1400 SAT, SAT II English of 540, Spanish 510. Major: Drama<------ I think the MAJOR has A LOT to do with admissions, I know someone else who applied with similar stats but applied as Bio Sciences Major and got rejected.

My friend at UCI told me to apply to a major no one choses (like I chose Chicano Studies and Spanish) and that can get you in. Once on campus u can always CHANGE the major

little strategy that goes a long way I suppose.

well i put undeclared as my alternate one so yeah. would that help?

And yet the average SAT of admitted students to the UCI School of Art for Fall 2008 was 1780... 12 points higher than the university-wide average and 19 points higher than the School of Biological Sciences.

Go figure.

wait...how is it possible to get a 4.2 and a 1400 sat?

Everyone in my school who has at least like 4.0 gpa gets around 2000-2200 sat

Because standardized tests don't measure somebody's level to do classroom work.

^ very true

I got a friend, got a 3.4 GPA

and a 2000 in his SAT

go figure

my gpa can't backup my low SAT/ACT score =[.

hey guys don't lose hope
i'm a freshmen at uci
i got a 3.6 gpa and a 1500 sat score
i was in 3 clubs and 2 sports

^

what major did u apply under?

i was undeclared
i heard those undeclared have a slight advantage

" wait...how is it possible to get a 4.2 and a 1400 sat? "

easy... you aren't a good test taker on random material that you can't study for, but able to study for classroom tests because its more focused on a certain topic than generalizations.
Plus I only took the SAT once cause I decided in sept I was gonna apply for a UC.
