Kindly chance and give suggestions! ( ゚▽゚)/

Thanks in advance to all those who bother to help me! Chance predictions and suggestions would be great, and I will always remember your munificent character and help you in return! (>uO)

I'm in grade 11, applying next year, and I still don't know what to build my application on because I am a boring well rounded person who is good at everything but excels at nothing.

I'm going to get my stories published or recognised in an award this summer. I write a fair amount but it never occurred to me that I should try to get published since I prefer math and science over languages anyways. I'm also looking into speech and go competitions, but I never know about any of them until they're over. 。・°°・(((p(≧□≦)q)))・°°・。

Dear people who bothered to read all of this and comment: thank you so much for your time, and I love you all~~~~ (*^▽^)/

I think you are a strong applicant. That being said how much community service do you have (specifically how many hours)? As for the leadership, it is good/not great. If you have a strong essay and recommendations I think you will have a good shot. Also I think it is really good/slightly unique on CC that you have been committed to the same things for so long. If you have a chance please chance me. http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1357249-what-my-chances-swarthmore.html

Thanks for the comment! I have ~300 community service hours.

I completely agree with ArtsyGirl13. You’ll have a great shot at Princeton if you apply early there (26% acceptance rate) but it’s very difficult to tell for the other schools. Good luck!

I honestly don’t see you gaining acceptance to any college on that list except maybe Cambridge. You’ll definitely get into U of T, though.

If you can pull of 41or42/42 in IB, Cambridge is a very likely possibility.

Carnegie Mellon is a maybe, assuming you apply early. Even CMU’s CS is an option since you get that hook as a female.

Sorry if I appeared blunt, but it’s the sad truth. Applying from Canada as an asian female is extremely competitive. Kids with 2300+ get rejected all the time from Canada. You need a hook; it’s usually atheletics with the few expected being internationally recognized math and science students. (I’m talking IMO, ICHO,IBO, USAMO)

Oh, and to add, coming from a public school won’t help - it’ll actually hurt. If you come from Richmond Secondary, Maple ridge secondary (basically any public school) you have a severe disadvantage over the kids from St. Georges, LFA, or Crofton.

Arghwhy, being blunt is fine! I’m asking for chances, not an ego boost LOL (*≧▽≦)

I’m not getting that 42/42 (French… TT__TT) 40 or 41 is realistic so I really do hope I get all 7s from now on!

Does it make a large difference if I’m from a public school rather than a private school? It’s a magnet school as well and is ranked as second in Canada.

Yes, it makes a huge difference if your school is public or private especially since you are applying from Canada. (And just to add, all IB schools are magnet schools). If your school has a poor record or rarely sends people to elite schools, you need international recognition (in sports, or academics) to get accepted.

The US elite schools (on the commonApp) don’t really care about your IB score, just so you know. A high score won’t ‘really’ help you, but applying with a low predicted will definitely hurt. (It’s mostly GPA+SAT).

But with that high a ib score, especially a 777 in your HLs, you have a great chance at basically any school in Canada and UK.

If you’re aiming for US, aim for LACs or aim for cornell, penn seas, etc and ED.

bumpity bumpity bump bump bump ~ ~ ~

Oh true. LOL I forgot that Fraser was an Ontario ranking system. Thanks for the correction! (^u^)

Why do you say that HL history is better than HL econ?

I think you will get into at least one of the ivie league schools, but you dont know what they are looking for and your an international student.
Good Luck and I hope you the best.
