Kittredge or Engineering Quad Dorms?

Hey guys,

I’ve been accepted under computer science, and would like your opinions on which dorms would be ideal.

After looking through the available dorms, it seems that I’d prefer Kittredge or one of the residence halls in the Engineering quad.

Is it really convenient to have a private bathroom? I understand that you’d have to maintain it yourself, whereas the communal ones are cleaned. Also, is it worth living in kittredge, as it seems to have newer and better amenities, but a longer commute? Is the very short commute from the engineering quad very helpful, especially in the colder months?

Please give me your views of these dorms as well. Thanks!

Hi! I found that a lot of dorms in the Kit area don’t have air conditioning and are a little Dated. From the research I’ve done the best dorms are Baker, Arnett, Smith, Kit West, Buckingham, and Sewell. But of source that’s just form me. Baker seems to be the overall favorite since it was renovated a few years back. Pretty much everyone says having a private bathroom is amazing and pretty much everyone hates the community bathroom. Cleaning is a lot nicer than sharing a bathroom with a bunch of people. The Dorms around Ferrand field are popular because they are extremely central but the difference would only be a few minute longer walk.

Interesting. Yeah, looks like having a private bathroom would me much more convenient. Does anyone know which dorms tend to house a larger number of computer science majors?

Mainly looking for something central/close to the engineering department, and that doesn’t get too rowdy on weekday nights.

look at Global Engineering RAP. Its a good environment and you can stay there all four years if you want.
