I am a highschool senior and plan on attending Boulder next year. Because my major will be engineering, I was planning on living in the engineering quad. However, I like to eat very clean and prefer to cook food for myself rather than always eat at the cafeteria. Do any halls in the central campus have a kitchen in them?
The only dorm in the Engineering Quad that has an in-suite kitchen option is Reed, which is for soph, junior, and senior students. I don’t know what would happen if as a freshmen you put in a special request to live there. I guess they would have to have space. Some of the dorms in Kittredge have a community kitchen, like Kittredge Central which houses engineering students. I think for a dorm to have a community kitchen it has to be one of the newer dorms, like Kittredge, Baker, etc. Go to this website and pick the dorm you are interested in and then select Amenities. It will tell you which ones have community kitchens. https://housing.colorado.edu/residences/residence-halls/kittredge-central
Ok thank you:) If I live in the engineering quad will I still have access to Reed with me key card? Because I could always just stop by once a week to meal prep if that works
The kitchens in Reed are inside the rooms, so no.
My D lived in Baker and Libby freshman and sophomore years. She hated the kitchens (I think both did have kitchens, but not absolutely sure). She has pretty high cleanliness standards and is very glad to be in an apartment now where she can cook. Good luck to you in your kitchen search.
Baker has a kitchen. Libby does not.
