Hi, this is a strange question but I was wondering if anyone here knew U of Michigan's policy regarding knives, pocket knives and multi-tools (contains a knife too). I could only find information pertaining to employees of the university. I have a swiss army knife (probably will be left in my dorm) with a 2.5 inch blade, a multi tool with a similarly sized blade 3 inch maybe? and a knife (folding) with a 3.5 inch blade. I'm not one of those crazy terrorists =P I just find these tools extremely useful. I know theres a lot of other iffy legal stuff that goes on there (underage drinking, smoking, drugs etc.) So are these tools illegal to carry on campus, if so will they even care if I get caught? Thanks

No idea, just dont wave it around in public, you can probably get away with it.

Well yeah, I'm definitely NOT going to draw attn. to it, just clip it to my pocket with the knife and folder part INSIDE the pocket. That way its not exactly concealed which apparently is a big nono, yet its not exactly being waved around open. Plus the campus patrols probably have bigger fish to fry than some freshmen with a knife in his pocket.

Possession of Firearms, Dangerous Weapons and Knives. Except as otherwise provided in Section 4, no person shall while on any property owned, leased, or otherwise controlled by the Regents of the University of Michigan: (1) possess any firearm or any other dangerous weapons as defined in or interpreted under Michigan law or (2) wear on his or her person or carry in his or her clothing any knife, sword or machete having a blade longer than four (4) inches, or, in the case of a knife with a mechanism to lock the blade in place when open, longer than three (3) inches.

Lifted from something on the U of M Flint site, but the same text is a bunch of other places as official policy applying to all employees and students on University property.

That being said, the only way you'd get in trouble for having a 3.5 inch blade that locks in place is if you do something severely stupid enough to merit getting strip-searched by DPS/the police.

P.S. And don't use the moniker "krazyhead" when you're walking around with your knife. ;)
