So I'm thinking about applying to Knox as a creative writing/english undergrad. I know they have a great program for creative writing so that's good. I'm curious about the social life at Knox and the town, though...Is it one of those campuses that is so small that all anyone does is drink or is there a substantial amount of other things to do at Knox? I personally don't drink so it's pretty important to me not to be constantly surrounded by people who only drink...Also I know the town is small-ish...just wondering how small it truly feels...Thanks!

I thought I would try to answer this for you. My dd went to Knox. She graduated last year. She told me that while many people drink, she never felt like she was odd for not drinking. There were many people who did not drink. The town is small so most people do stay on campus but because most people stay on campus, there are many activities.
She is still very close with her Knox friends and she had a great time there. She even learned quite a bit. Good luck.

Any party at Knox that serves alcohol also has to provide non-alcoholic drinks (and not just water). I’m a non-drinker who went to lots of parties. Galesburg doesn’t have a lot to offer, so most of the social scene is on campus, but I was never bored.
