Lack of APs?

I spent a year abroad in Japan for my Junior year. As a result I have no APs, except for the ones I'll be taking next year (senior year), which is basically all my classes. Before Junior year the only AP courses I could have taken were APUSH in 10th grad or elective APs like art history or psychology. Anyway my question is do you think that colleges will understand the reason that I don't have APs until 12th grade or do you think that it could actually hurt my chances?
lol my question sounds kind of stupid to myself but idk. Thanks for any input

I think they'll understand it. A year abroad in Japan is probably far more valuable and challenging than the AP courses you would have taken anyway.

Thanks! I guess that's kind of what I thought. And obviously i know how important Japan was to me...a lot more important than any AP classes...lol. I guess I'll show the colleges that through my essays....

I agree with quaere. APs are more important for credit than for admissions anyways.
