Lack of Dedication?

So yeah, I'm really, really, really considering dropping High School band next school year. (This includes marching, concert and pep band) (I'll be a junior.) I've been playing in band since 7th grade; I've been in HS band (highest level we have) since 8th. If I were to continue band, I would be section leader and first chair. My problem is that I'm going to try to take 4 AP classes in school, calc-based physics, speech and debate, plus (hopefully) AP chemistry, AP physics and Chinese 2 online. Plus self-study for AP human geography.

So back to my dilemma -- If I quit HS band, I'll still be able to play in my local community band. The community band plays higher-level pieces and is a lot less of a time commitment. But if I quit High school band, will adcoms see me as someone who can't commit to a program? Will it be a good decision to quit at all?

I doubt that. I don’t think colleges will make quick assumptions, they could surely ask about it though. If you don’t think you can handle band and the other classes, then drop it. If you REALLY love band, then keep it. It’s a hard decision, but you need to think about this really hard. I hope you come to a decision, good luck.
