Lady Gaga at NYU?!

So, I've read that not only did Lady Gaga attend NYU, but at age 17 she was one of 20 students around the world to be accepted ED at Tisch. Does anyone know what she studied? Did she actually graduate?

Oh, and are the all the schools within NYU located in relatively close proximity?

yeah, she did go here. i think she was a theatre major? and yes i'm pretty sure she graduated.

you see, this one of the reasons why nyu is just so freaking amazing. just LOOK at their alumni. Its incredible. and james franco goes to tisch, doesnt he? im really hoping to run into him.

Exactly, bondgirl! I'm gonna be a secret correspondent for TMZ!!!....jk, of course.

haha that would actually be a good way to help pay for the tution...

lady gaga studied recorded music at clive davis

I don't like her.

I DO like her. But that's besides the point -- I'm inspired that one day I too can be successful like the alumni at NYU.

"I'm inspired that one day I too can be successful like the alumni at NYU."

exactly. it blows my mind that i'm going to the school that scorcese, alec baldwin, anne hathaway, and ang lee, among zillion other successful alumni, went to.

She dropped out when she was 19 because she “felt New York was [her] teacher and that [she] needed to bite the bullet and go (at) it alone.” Read the article on Elle here:

Lady Gaga was, I think, a student in the Tisch Department of Drama in the CAP21 (musical theatre) studio. No, she did not graduate.

lol never liked lady gaga , rise against ftw ;p

I love Lady GaGa…

Po po po poker face!

Mum mum mum maaa.

Can’t read my poker face.

i like that one song. But that one song only…;p

I mean how can you call that music…I mean seriously, she has a good voice, no doubt about that but “I want to take a ride on your disco stick”. I mean really? I was like what did she just say? Did I hear wrong??

lol nate. i agree with u on that one. I honestly hate gimmicky music like that, coz just think its a cheap attempt to make urself popular and honestly its getting old after buttons and my humps

Lmao Tisch accepts more than 20 kids a year, 600 would be the more appropriate number.

But the program she got into is really small, Clive Davis Department of Recorded Music, so that’s where the number 20 comes from. She wasn’t in Drama.

I didn’t think she was all that special at first because all her songs are heavily edited but after seeing her perform live versionon the piano, DAMN she’s good. Haha there is really no doubt about that. Tisch knows talent. ;)

When Lady Gaga was at CAP21, we knew her as Stefani. : ) She is one of a number of very talented alum we’ve had come through our doors. Matthew Morrisson (GLEE), Kristen Bell (WHEN IN ROME) and even Anne Hathaway (PRINCESS DIARIES) - who attended our summer program back when she was in high school. During any given year CAP21 has over 25 grads working on Broadway - not to mention scores of alums appearing regionally and in film and television. I’ve had the pleasure of working with nearly every student that has come through our program over the last 12 years.

NYU has chosen not to renew their contract with us, which has allowed us to become an independent training conservatory and we are now running a 2 year professional program that offers 30 credit hours a week in musical theater training only. It will be a certificate program which will enable the student, if they choose, to finish their BA or BFA at a school within our alliance. So, we will continue to produce top-notch musical theater actors but now we are no longer bound by the strict admissions guidelines of a major university and we’re considerably more affordable than we were during our former association. To all the future stars out there, good luck!
