Thanks for 18 posts worth of info...I still don't understand about the crew team...you said they don't have intramural crew, so do you have to try out? If you walk on...does that mean trying out without being recruited, or does that mean simply joining the team?

Walk on means you just join the team without being recruited. As far as I know, they don't cut freshmen - you might not be in the top boat, but you can still be on the team.

rowing swimming all of them sound great and i will try to do a little of each....

but personally, i think i will spend more time at the indoors climbing wall in the Armory! Rock-climbing doesn't make you Johny Bravo-buff, so it won't help you become a lady's man, but it will give you excellent physical condition.

uummm so i'm just going to take this opportunity to express how glad i am that i'll be at a co-ed school next year. i've been deprived for the last 4 years. and talking about all the water sports athletes makes me even more happy! lol. yah just wanted to throw that out there!

revan-rock climbing doesn't turn you into johnny bravo, but it does make you really really tough. rock climbers cant afford to put on too much weight (buff=heavy), so they develop lean muscle, and it doesn't show that much

wow, prettyfish, i have to say i never ever gave a minute of consideration to rowing and now after reading your posts i'm honestly considering it.. just a question though, does it never feel monotonous? because distance track /XC kinda did that to be because I'd just be like "la la la i'm running and running and running" everyday

Not really, because the water you're rowing on and the conditions and the boat you're in and the seat you're in and all that stuff, it changes the way the boat feels. I've never felt monotonous, like I used to do with swimming, etc.

How in shape do u have to be for rowing? i want to do it to get INTO shape, not the ends of the mean... or means to the end.. whatever, u get what i mean? :D

It will whip you into shape damn fast. I didn't start in shape at all, and now I consider myself quite in shape. The learning curve at the beginning progresses really quickly, so you'll be "in shape" (or at least in much better shape) within a few months.
