Lafayette College Marquis Scholarships

I also got accepted at Lafayette! so are you guys going to attend?Ive also got a question about the Student Health Insurance Plan. Is there any other option? I undestand that we're not obliged to get insurance through the College.

I found out yesterday, and I'm not a Marquis Scholar or any other special scholar for that matter, but I'm very excited to have been accepted.

if we didn't get anything with our acceptance does that mean we got nothing

No. they will send you the financial aid package later

i called lafayette and they said that merit scholarships have already gone out so if you have not got anything by now you wont be getting any.... not exactly what i wanted to hear.

Went to Friday’s Scholar day. I liked the college. We met a few of the professors, sat in a couple of classes, and had lunch with several students who were science majors. I was most impressed with how warm and friendly everyone was ( Students, staff and professors) I think Lafayette college is worth a look if you are looking for a smaller college that is strong in math and science ( Lafayette has an engineering school).

I had a 1360 and got the Marquis Scholarship :)

lovinit, that's great - I assume you applied to Lafayette ED? and will you attend?
DOes anyone know if RD applicants get notice of merit scholarships with an acceptance, or in a seprate letter? (and if separate, when?)

Sons applied RD last year and both received Marquis Scholarships. The acceptance letter is dated 3/11/05 and was sent out before acceptances that did not receive merit scholarships. It was a nice surprise to see it arrive early! The acceptance was in the first paragraph followed by a personalized portion referencing achievements and interests that were part of the app. The third paragraph announced the selection as a Marquis Scholar and stated that notification of the monetary component would follow under separate cover. A bonus of the Marquis is that unmet need is in the form of grants as opposed to loans. Our total Fin Aid package is VERY generous! One son is currently at Lafayette and loves it! As part of the Marquis program in the Fall semester he went to NYC to see Rent--ticket, transportation and money for meals all provided. He is planning to do his paid January interim session abroad next year. Lafayette has been all positives from the start of the exploration process through the completion of the first semester. S returns next weekend--winter break is long due to the January session--and is really looking forward to it. Please ask questions!

I was wondering if anyone accepted ED in prior years got merit scholarship offers?

My brother (junior at Lafayette) is a Marquis Scholar and he had a 1450 (or 1460, can't remember)
