Landmark Volunteers

Has anyone tried this program? If so, how was the experience? Also, is it difficult to get accepted to your top site, if at all?

Yes, I was also looking at this program. What are the living conditions like and the food. Is it worthwhile?

My daughter did this program last year and really enjoyed it. The living conditions vary from site to site. She did the Jamestown/Yorktown program and stayed in apartment-style dorms at William and Mary - I think that was definitely the nicest accomodations offered in the Landmark program. The participants shared cooking duties, so the food quality varied, too. But she certainly didn't starve! The participants pretty much make their own decisions - there is a group leader (usually in their 20s) in charge.

By the way, Jamestown/Yorktown was her top choice, but she did get the application in by mid-January. She would have been happy with her #2 and #3 choices, though.
