My son is a junoir in hs and we have started his college search. His interests is in LA and these are the schools he is looking at:
Kansas St, Oklahoma St, and University of Arkansas. As long as the school is accredited, is it that big of deal? Son is interested in going out of state even though KState is top 10 in LA and the cheapest cause instate.
Any thoughts???
Thanks
Should definitely apply to Kansas State but you can’t be too surprised a kid wants to explore a bit for college.
My son lives in TX but is going to K-State even though Texas A&M is higher rated in his program. His grades were not a factor but he really wanted to go out of state. He loved K-State and if felt a lot more like “home” than A&M did. They seem to really want him there but he felt like more of a number at A&M. His degree will get him just as good a job. He wants to go to vet school and with K-State he has early admission to vet school. So what I am saying is that I think K-State is awesome and he should apply there and really look at it but also look at the other schools. See where he will be happiest and if you can afford it or he can get good financial aid let him explore if the fit is right.
KState is a a very good school and that will be our safety net. He can see himself at Arkansas and is visiting Ok St next month. It will come down if he can raise his ACT score to get at least instate tuition from Ark.There is about a $9000 difference w/out any type of scholarships. He’s a 3.83 weighted and a 19 on ACT ( 1st time…he’ll take again in April). Is not involved with his school buy does work in the summer.
