Language and Composition Requirement for Transfer Admission to UCB

I am a full-time student of Orange Coast College, who tend to be a prospective transfer applicant to UCB in the next few years. I plan to apply to the Electrical Engineering and Computer Science major, but I am confused about one of the school’s requirements that hope you guys can clarify.

According to the information on assist.org: If a series of courses at a community college is required (e.g., English 1A + 1B

  • 103 = English R1A and R1B), all the courses in the series must be completed,
and must (unless otherwise indicated) be completed at the same community
    college.
I used to take this class in OCC in the last semester but withdrew with a W on my transcript. My school offer both classes but I tend to take this class at another college, where offers online classes that fit my schedule. Does it hurt my chance to UCB if I take these classes in that college?

Thank you for your reply.

UCB is picky and wants all courses in a series be completed at the same college, even English.

If you have a W, I believe you can take it at the other CC but you should take the rest of the series at the other CC.

Contact UCB for confirmation.
