Language classes at UM

<p>What kind of experiences have you had with language classes at UM? I am a senior taking a French class online this year. I signed up for it for a blow-off class, but I actually am interested in the language and plan to get serious about it in college. I would also love to study Russian in the future (I have no background). I took the available two years of Spanish at my high school as well as a semester at the local university (Michigan Tech) through dual enrollment. I struggled a lot with this college Spanish class after excelling at Spanish in high school, and I've heard that college language classes are universally difficult, so I'm wondering if people have found this to be the case at UM and what you would suggest for me.</p>

<p>Language classes at Michigan are great, both in terms of variety and in terms of instruction. Intro classes are sometimes taught by PhD students, but don't let that put you off. And yes, language classes can be tough, but they aren't impossible.</p>
