Language Placement Exams & AP Credit dilemma - Latin

Even if you have AP credit, do you still have to take the school's placement exams? Specifically, Greek/Latin for Classical Studies.

One thing I'm concerned about is I want to major in Classical Studies with a Language concentration, which includes 32 hours of either Greek or Latin classes (and 2 semesters of whichever of the two you're not focusing on). If I take the AP credit, according to the website, I'd get 3 hours of Intermediate Latin (although the page is a bit outdated, since it still lists AP Latin as split into Lit and Vergil). Would that mean I wouldn't get credit for the other beginning and intermediate classes that I'd place out of? According to the course descriptions of the beginning and intermediate classes I'd place out of, if I have credit then I can't take those classes. Furthermore, I noticed that only one upper-level Latin course is offered per semester, so I'm not sure how I'd be able to complete the language track if I take the AP credit and if that AP credit will ONLY count as 3 hours.

I don’t think you have to do the placement if you have the AP credit. With regard to rest of your questions, please email Dr. Daniel Solomon. He was very prompt with a query from my daughter regarding Latin AXLE related question.
