Language placement testing

I see that a language placement test is part of the GW First Class tutorial. Does anyone know anything about this test? Format, length, does it have a listening section, is essay writing required, how much time should I allot for the test, etc? Since the GW First Class thing opens up June 1st, I don't feel like I have very much time to prepare for the test. PLEASE some input!!!!!

GWsenior - any help on this one? Getting out of a language class means saving a couple of bucks!

I took it prior to registering for classes. You don’t need to study, it is better for you to answer what you know and not “cheat on yourself”, so you’ll know where you fit.
Once you get the score (usually inmediately, online), then you’ll know depending on where you are, you’ll register appropiately.

haha im gunna fail

Hey waves- hate to break it to you, but there’s no way to test out of the foreign language requirement/get credit through the placement test. It just tells you the appropriate level to register for. Whether you take Spanish I and II or Advanced Japanese, a language class is a language class in the eyes of CCAS. I don’t know if the same is true for Elliot- check the requirements, they might want you to take up to a certain level of language class.

If I remember correctly the test is multiple choice and matching. Don’t try to study for it; like I said, since you’ll have to take a language anyway, you want to be in the appropriate level.

GWSenior is right Pat, there is no way to escape languages

I’m not good enough in Arabic to test out of it but I was hoping that I wouldn’t have to take Intro to Arabic or something like that. I love the language and I’m so interested in the Middle East that I’m sure that I’ll take courses relating to the language for as long as I can.

Elliott requires a 3rd yr in languages, unlike CCAS, wigh is two.
