placement exam

Hi! I signed up for the CI, registration date, and placement exams. But, I'm not sure if I need to take the placement exams. I got a 730 on my Spanish SAT II, 700 on Math IIC, and 710 on Math IC. Last year, I got a 4 on AP Spanish Language, and this year, I'm taking AP Calculus and AP Spanish Literature.

Do I need to take the placement exams? If I do, does anyone know how easy/hard they are?

Thanks!!

You need to check the GW bulletin which is online and look at the classes for math. I believe from off my head you do qualify for Math 51 and 52.

Online there should be SAT II- and AP-GW equivalents.

APs: http://gwired.gwu.edu/ci/academicsnew/APIB/AP/
SAT IIs: http://gwired.gwu.edu/ci/academicsnew/SATII/

If you have questions, you should call the number that's on the website.

I suggest taking the placement exams to see if you can waive any of your credit. I took the french placement and waived 2 years of french (4 semesters), so I was done with the Elliott School language requirement after taking 2 semesters during freshmen year.

Placement exams are very straight-forward. Don't sweat them. They're there to see how proficient you are and which class you should take at GW.

I do not think I did well on the Calculus AP (not a good day)... will I have another opportunity to take a math placement exam once I get to GW?

Not exactly sure, you can ask the CI offices.

MATH 009 is basic (easy) math. If it fits your GCRs, you can take this math. Intro to Logic is another alternative - depending on your prof, could be easy.
