Language/Science

I am a sophomore in high school and have a difficult decision to make regarding my schedule next year. If I were to keep going the track I am I would be taking Honors Physics next year (junior year) but in order to free up room in my schedule I thought of taking physics at my local community college and replacing it with AP Chem (cause I'm a boss at chem). Now the whole community college thing wont work so I thought of possibly dropping spanish and taking both Honors Physics and AP Chem my junior year. This would allow me to finish my science requirements before senior year and allow me to fill the extra room with additional AP classes. But I'm scared to drop spanish because I've heard 3 years of a language looks much better than 2. Do you think this decision to drop my language and replace it with an AP course will hurt my chances? Also I am considering taking 5 AP courses by the time I leave high schools. I know this doesnt sound like a lot but my school only offers around 10-12 AP courses. Do you think this is a good idea for NYU? NYU is my first choice btw. Thanks!

I honestly think the Spanish would look better. NYU requires you to be somewhat proficient in a foreign language, and they like well-rounded people, so I think that would look better than taking extra science courses. It may not affect your chances at all, but that’s just what I think.

Thats why I’m really thinking about this but the only thing is that I would be taking accelerated spanish 4 which would compromise my weighted gpa and also make my schedule look easier than it with AP Chem.

Another option is just skipping physics but I heard colleges liek you to be well rounded in the 3 branches of science

Why not take physics senior year?
