...language

<p>This is going to be a stupid question...
I'm in Latin, and by graduation i will have taken four years of it.
Someone told me that some colleges don't count it since it's a dead language...
is that true? and if it is, what stance does UIUC take?

<p>Generally, colleges accept Latin as a foreign language, although there may exceptions I am not aware of. UIUC accepts Latin to meet the admission requirement and, in fact, if you have 4 years of high school Latin (or 4 years of any single other foreign language), you willl not be required to take any foreign language once you get to UIUC, unless you major in foreign language or studies (and UIUC actually offers Latin as a foreign language major).</p>
