Laptop choice?

Hi im a high school student and my laptop just broke. Anyone know any suggestions of one that lasts long? Perferably more than 4 year? And one that isn't so costy too! I heard the dell inspiron are good is ot true?

Suggestions please

I will stand by Macbooks till the day I die.

A refurbished Macbook Pro 13-inch usually goes for around $700, if that is within your price range.

Im not really a fan of apple stuff…
Sorry but do you or anyone else know about the dell inspiron on best buy that cost 279? Like I don’t mind if its ugly or stuff I just want t o know of that one lasts long of anyone used it before

A $279 laptop isn’t gonna last long.

My sisters both had Dell’s. They died about a year after they bought them. I have an HP Pavilion dm1 and I actually really like it  I’ve only had it about a year though, so I’m not sure how long it will last, but I’ve heard great things about HPs in that department.

Lenovos are great laptops… they’re not as expensive as Apples and they’re just as good

Really ? (Keeps on searching*

Samsung 5 series.
Price range $400-800

Works with dual intel-5 core
Fast as heck if you get the upgraded models. Has pretty much everything you need, and will last longer than 4 years.

Also, screens are about 16" even for the standard samsung 5 series, so you get 3" more than the standard macbook pro (which goes for around 1K)

I’ve had a Sony VAIO vpcee25fx for 4 years now and it’s still running! I will be getting a new one next summer.

HP Pavilion rocks!

If laptop design isn’t a concern, then you should definitely go with Lenovo. They typically forego making their laptops pretty and instead focus on quality/performance/affordability. You can get them for dirt cheap, too. :D

Lenovo, Samsung, HP’s Envy series, or Apple if you’re into OSX. Try for i5, preferably fourth gen, definitely not second gen or below. I 4 GB ram is standard but more is always better (and more expensive…).

Sony VAIO as well, though those can be a bit pricey. Try for refurbished for any of the companies I mentioned to save a couple hundred.

I recommend not getting anything with windows 8. I just got it and it sucks

Any laptop will last you 3+ years if you treat it right and don’t click on any dumb malware. I’d recommend at least a 2.0+ GHz i3 (or AMD equivalent) processor and 4+ GB of ram. There shouldn’t be a problem finding a good one for 400 or under. If you only need it for casual stuff like email, browsing, music, movies, and/or running MS Word and Powerpoint you could probably settle for a processor that isn’t quite as fast as an i3.

AVOID THE HP PAVILION SERIES. I have a m6 and it broke after just one year. Thing cost $850, too :frowning: My suggestion? Get a Lenovo Ultrabook/Ideapad. Two of my friends have it. It’s well worth the money.

Lenovo is great, but they all come with windows 8 :(
